Dental Implants

Whole Tooth Replacement with Dental Implant

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

Dental implants are artificial roots made of titanium that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone by a dentist. The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile!

Dental implants are strong and durable and will last many years.

Reasons for dental implants:

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by missing teeth.
  • Restore a patient’s confident smile.
  • Restore a patient's bite.
  • Support a bridge or denture, making it more secure and comfortable.
  • Used to stabilize or hold dentures to keep them from moving

What does getting dental implants involve?

Dental implants are a great way to replace a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. A dental implant, unlike other options to replace teeth, acts as a titanium root for your new tooth. Implant placement occurs in stages.

  • Bone graft is placed to allow for formation of bone around the implant. This can be done before the implant placement or at time of placement depending on the state of the implant site.
  • Implant is placed and allowed to heal. During this healing phase, the bone will fuse (osseointegrate) to the implant allowing a for a very stable outcome. Allowing adequate healing time is vital to the long term outcome of the implant.
  • Often a temporary tooth is placed in order to have a tooth at the site while the implant heals.
  • After the implant has fully integrated into the bone, an abutment and crown is placed. The crown is what you and others will see. The abutment is the bridge between the implant and crown and allow to two components to be linked together.

The end result is a beautiful tooth that is both functional and a cosmetic masterpiece! At Brammer Dental, we love placing implants for our patients! We look forward to replacing your teeth in the best way possible.
